Monthly Wrap-Ups

January Wrap-Up

The first month of the new year is gone and I already feel like I’m behind on things… new year, old me lol. January was a busy month with exams and loads of deadlines, plus the weather has been super grey, which never helps my mood or my productivity. Still, I guess the silver lining is I don’t go out quite as much, meaning much more reading time for me! The days are starting to get longer now and I have to say, I’m really enjoying the extra light: it always makes me happy as we slowly inch towards spring!

Let’s review January now.

What I added to my shelves…

I added quite a few books on my shelves in January – so much for getting my TBR down… There were a few gifts and some library holds that all came in at the same time (of course), but I did also get carried away in my excitement about a few books on NetGalley.

Bought

  • Disenchanted by Brianna Sugalski – this is pitched as Princess Bride meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so when I saw the ebook was free to download on Amazon, I just couldn’t resist
  • All About Love by bell hooks – I’ve been wanting to read this for a while, especially since it comes highly recommended, so I took the chance while the ebook was on sale at €0.99.
  • Voyage of the Damned by Frances White – Illumicrate subscription

Gifted

  • The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir – a cornerstone of feminist thought, and a big, big book so I’m going to take my time reading this one
  • Her Side of the Story by Alba de Céspedes – another one I’d had my eye on for a while, so it was a much appreciated gift

For Review

Huge thanks to all the publishers, authors and NetGalley for the e-arcs!

What I Read…

What I’m Reading…

I’m juggling a few very different books at the moment, depending on what mood I’m in, but I have to say I’m greatly enjoying all of them so far.

I also still have a few reviews pending from 2023, so there will be more of those coming soon as I try to clear my backlog.

That’s it for now!
How was your January and the start of 2024?
