Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl with a new topic every week for book bloggers to chat about. I enjoyed all the lovely conversations I had over the past week, so I decided to join again this week as we share bookish goals for 2025.
I haven’t really been in the habit of making a list of reading goals, but this year I’ve been feeling more drawn towards a little more planning than I usually do. Not sure if I’ll get to 10 goals, but let’s start with the first few and see how it goes.
1. Read 50 books. Every year for however long I’ve been on Goodreads, I set myself a goal to read at least 50 books in the year, which comes down to just under one book per week. I’m not strict about it and honestly I don’t really fret too much about it… numbers don’t really bother me, but I like having a comfortable goal that’s fairly easy to reach just to keep me motivated. Most years I end up reading more than that, but I never change it.
2. Read more backlist/owned books. This is a big one for me this year! I know I shared this before, but I’ll keep repeating it to keep myself accountable. I have so many great books waiting for me on my physical and virtual shelves, and I really want to get to at least some of those this year. To help me with this, I’ve joined the 25 in 2025 challenge on Insta – I’ll share my TBR for that in another post in the next few days!
3. Only read ARCs I’m truly interested in. Again, this year it’s all about enjoying reading and blogging for the pleasure of it. This is a hobby for me, so I want it to not feel like a chore. It hasn’t been a massive issue in the past, but I have occasionally accepted ARCs I wasn’t entirely sure of, or books I felt I had to read even though I wasn’t really interested in them. This year, I want to devote my reading time to the books I truly want to read, and sometimes that will mean turning ARCs down. I’ll never stop feeling grateful and privileged to have access to them and for authors and publishers to trust me with reviewing their books (I really am, thank you all!), but when I read them I want to make sure it’s because I care about them, and I’m giving them all the attention the deserve, not rushing to meet a deadline or a trending topic on social media.
4. Blog more regularly. My posting schedule has been really uneven for the past few years. I know life is busy and it will likely get in the way again sometime, but I would really like to get back into posting regularly, even if it’s just shorter updates and reviews.
5. Engage in the bookish community more actively. This one’s kind of connected to the previous goal. I haven’t been terribly good at keeping up with the community in the past, mostly because I felt as though I never had enough time to keep up with everything. Actually, for a while I’d only log in, write up my post, publish it and log back out until I had another post to write. The community is what makes book blogging so special though, so I really want to get back into that this year.
6. Keep a reading journal. I mostly track my reading on Goodreads, Storgraph and a spreadsheet, but I really want to try keeping a reading journal this year to dive a bit deeper into my reading habits. I’ve downloaded the NetGalley Reading Journal already and I’ll try using it regularly during the year.
7. Read more diversely. This has been a goal of mine for quite a while now, but I want to try again this year.
8. Learn to “let it go”. I rarely DNF books or just accept that there are some books I’m no longer interested in reading, and I’ll end up forcing myself to finish them even when I’m not enjoying them anymore. But, if I’m going to make space for all those books that I do want to read, then I have to start letting go of the ones I’m not enjoying or no longer appeal to me.
I think that’s all for now! Not sure if I’ll manage to accomplish all of these in 2025, but it’s good to have something to work towards!

It’s so rewarding to participate in the bookish community. I’m glad you’re planning to do more of that this year.

Good luck with all of these, they look very sensible and well thought out. Like you I majorly need to work on picking up more of my owned books. Trying to figure out what to prioritise right now kind of feels like a juggling act though between what’s on my shelf, what’s coming out and what I’ve wanted to read for years and need to check out of the library 😂
I’d think, or hope, that authors and publishers would appreciate you being honest as to whether a books for you (although I get feeling like you have to accept as I’d be the same) as accepting books that don’t interest you are only going to lead to negative reviews and a tough reading experience.
Ooh good luck with the journal. I hope it goes well 🥰 and the DNF goal is great too. There’s too many wonderful books out there to force yourself through bad ones. Plus it tends to lead to slumps

I feel you haha! It’s so hard to pick – always too many books, too little time 😂 But whenever we do manage to pick the next read, we’ll be in for some great reading time for sure!
Thank you 🥰

Being more involved with the blogging community is also something I want to be better at. I’ve made a couple of amazing friends and I want to keep that going. I wish you the best with all of these goals. 🙂

I share a lot of your goals, including reading more books I own, and reducing the number of ARCs I sign up for. Good luck with your reading goals!

I love participating in the bookish community but I also sometimes get overwhelmed and can’t find the time so I understand. I hope to find and engage with more new blogs this year and good luck with your reading goals.

I think almost everyone (me included) has a goal to read more of their own books. Good luck to all of us! Ha ha. It’s hard to do when there are so many shiny, new books coming out ALL THE TIME. Good luck with your goals.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

I really, really need to get my physical TBR under control. I have to stop looking at new releases and focus on what I already have. 😅 Good luck with your goals this year!

Most goals sound really relatable! Personally, I find a posting schedule is obstructing me in my enjoyment of blogging and reading, but each to their own!

So many realtable goals! For me, a posting schedule sucks out the enjoyment of blogging and reading, but each to their own!
