Sunday Post and Reading Updates

I’m linking up to the Sunday Post, a blog news meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer, a chance to share news and recap the last week (or several!); and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week, hosted by Kathryn @ The Book Date.

Well, another week is over but I swear it felt like at least two! The cold has finally reached us here too, and we’ve had several gloomy, rainy days. It would have been perfect all-day reading weather if only I hadn’t needed to go to work and uni 😅 It’s been nice to cosy up at home in the evenings, even though most days I was so tired I didn’t really manage to read more than a page or two.

What I read…

I finished Hare House and I’m still unsure what I thought about it… It definitely had strong vibes but everything else I’ll need to think about a bit more before writing my review. The audiobook narrator was excellent though!

What I watched…

I went to the cinema to see C’è Ancora Domani (There’s Still Tomorrow), the directorial debut of Italian actor Paola Cortellesi. The film is set in 1946 in Rome and follows Delia, a woman trying to get by while juggling work (both in and out of the household), a violent husband, teenage children and a bed-ridden father-in-law, all while Italian women are getting ready to vote for the first time ever.
I cannot understate how much I loved this film! I laughed, I cried and just overall had a fantastic time. It’s not perfect, but it still worked extremely well and was incredibly moving.

I ended Halloween by watching Haunted Mansion on Disney+ and, well… I didn’t really like it, sadly. I did have fun, but most of the time it was at the film’s expense (especially the obnoxious product placement). It made me miss the 2003 version!

Muchos Hijos, un Mono y un Castillo (Lots of Kids, a Monkey and a Castle) is a fun Spanish documentary. Julita had three wishes after getting married: lots of kids, a monkey, and a castle of her own. That all of these wishes have become a reality is probably down to the immense stubbornness of this charismatic and hilarious matriarch, who has a weakness for collecting crazy objects.

What I’m reading…

I’m close to finishing The Hidden Crown, which I’m reading for the blog tour.
The start of November means it’s time for NetGalley November too, so I’ll soon pick up another of the many, many books that are languishing on my NetGalley shelf but I still haven’t decided which one to start with.

That’s it from me for this week!
How has your week been?

  1. I can’t wait for you thoughts on Hare House. I remember seeing it here and adding it to my wishlist. Need to see if I want to actually search out a copy. Have a wonderful week!

  2. Nice looking books. We’re having perfect reading weather too. But I’m really tired of the grey skies and the threat of rain. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
