Monthly Wrap-Ups

March 2025 Wrap-Up

Hello and welcome (or welcome back) as we wave goodbye to another month! Spring may finally be springing (or not, if I were to judge by this morning’s downpour), days are getting longer and hopefully my energy levels will start rising again – if hay fever doesn’t get me first lol.

March was another busy month! I officially graduated (yay!) and am easing back into working full-time now I’m no longer a student. It still feels a little unreal being in this new transition phase, but I’m determined to make the most of it for as long as I can. I’ve got lots of things brewing, and I’m really looking forward to discovering what comes out!

April is looking like a busy month already. I have a few bookish events coming up that I’m excited about – one in particular you might have already seen if you follow me on Instagram, and if you don’t… what are you waiting for? 😉

What I read…

  • Persuasion by Jane Austen
  • Starrily by Kate Serzenta
  • We Solve Murders by Richard Osman
  • Aftertaste by Daria Lavelle – this one was a total surprise, but already on track to be one of my favourites of the year! Full review will come shortly, so keep an eye out for it.

What I added to my shelves…

For Review

Thanks to the authors, publishers and The Tandem Collective for these!

Bought

I’ve been trying very hard to stick to my resolution not to buy (too many) new books, but after attending the presentation for Yakuza Blues, I caved and got myself a copy.

What I’m reading…

I’m waiting on a couple of library holds to come in, so those will probably end up taking precedence over the rest of my TBR, but otherwise the plan for April is to try to finish at least some of the books I currently have on pause. We’ll see how that goes!

What I watched…

Not much this month. I haven’t really been in the mood for watching films, and even when I did want to try, I’ve just been so tired I’ve been falling asleep early. I managed to watch a few though, and I’m especially happy I finally watched Porco Rosso! I still have a few Studio Ghibli films to catch up on, but this one had been on my list for such a long time, it was lovely to finally see it – and yes, it was as good as I’d hoped.

Otherwise, I’ve been trying to finish Virgin River season 6 and enjoying my rewatch of Schitt’s Creek. I also went to the theatre to see an adaptation of Anna Karenina, and it was a really great show, so I’m glad I managed to get tickets for it!

That’s it for now!

  1. I felt like Spring was starting too but we keep getting a really nasty wind chill 😥 at least it’s mostly been sunny though (besides also tipping with rain here today).

Wow that’s some strong praise for Aftertaste. I’m glad you enjoyed it so much though 🥰

Oh wow you’ve gotten some fantastic books recently. Most of them are on my TBR (I’m especially intrigued by A Steep & Savage Path).

What was Juror #2 like? I meant to try and see that when it was in cinemas but didn’t get around to it.

I hope you have a lovely month and enjoy any books you get to.

    1. Thank you! It’s definitely been a good month.

I liked Juror #2! I’m a fan of courtroom dramas generally, but I particularly appreciated how well-made it was. Plus, it tackles a lot of ethical issues and reflections on the justice system and responsibility, which I appreciated a lot!

Hope you have a great April, too!

      1. I’m glad to hear it. It does look like an interesting narrative so it’s wonderful hearing that it’s well done. I’ll have to watch out for it on TV.

        Thank you 🥰

  2. The weather can’t decide if it’s spring or not, but the wind does blow … and blow … and blow … and blows some more for good measure, lol

Yay for graduating! 😀 And yay for a great month of reading and some good hauls too.

What did you think of Persuasion? Was it a first time or a reread? It’s never been my favorite Jane Austen, but I’m looking forward to rereading it later this year, and seeing how my feelings have changed.

    Have a fabulous April!

    1. Thank you! 😊

It was my first time reading Persuasion! I agree with you, it’s not one of my favourites but I did like having a more mature protagonist to follow. I still haven’t read Northanger Abbey and Mansfield Park though, so I don’t have a definitive list yet lol.
I thought Persuasion started off way too slowly, but when it finally picked up, it was good! I do think it’s one of those I might appreciate more on a re-read though.

Hope you have a wonderful month, too!
