Spotlights

WWW Wednesday – 23rd April 2025

I haven’t done one of these in a while, but today I’m joining in WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words in which we talk about the Three Ws:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently reading

I actually have way too many books on my currently reading list, as there are a fair few I have started but paused for now. These are the ones I am actively reading at the moment though!

A Dance to Wake a Dragon is an e-arc that Earnshaw Books were kind enough to suggest I might enjoy. I’m about halfway through on this one, but this is already an intriguing fantasy novel weaving in themes of sustainability and climate change. I’m curious to see what will happen next!

I also started listening to Dream Count on audiobook, which I got through my Storytel membership. This was one of my most anticipated new releases for this year, so I’m really looking forward to diving in fully!

For my non-fiction physical book, I have started Gorgo Cpr, an investigative report on the Italian immigration detention system.

Recently read

I finished listening to The Paris Apartment, which is one of my 25 in 2025 bonus books as well as being one of those poor books that has been lying forgotten on my NetGalley shelf. I’ll publish a full review later, but I have to say, I was expecting something more from this given everything I’d heard about this author…

Up next

As ever, I haven’t fully settled on my next reads, but I’m leaning towards one of these two. Both of these books deal with the Italian Resistance to fascism, so they’d work perfectly to have a themed read in preparation for April 25th, which is our national holiday commemorating the liberation of Italy from Nazi-fascist occupation and the victory of the Italian Resistance movement.

What are you reading this week?
